Sadbh’s update – November 10, 2014

Sadbh had a good night and as soon as she woke up it was time to head up to see Mommy.

After Sadbh got her homework and arts and crafts out of the way she got to help Cammy and Beth bake cookies and all sorts of other treats.
Later she got to play and read books with both Cammy and Beth and when it came time for her guest to leave she was quite sad and wanted them to come back as soon as possible.

By bedtime Sadbh was delirious but allowed Katie and I to manage trach care without any problems.

It took a while to get her to sleep but soon she was sleeping soundly.

Our new nurse Jessica has been finding it very difficult to stay awake during the night so the agency let us know last Friday that they are looking for a replacement. Jessica planned on working until we found a replacement however tonight she could not work for some reason or other.
Katie and I decided that she did not need to return so we will be sleeping downstairs with Sadbh until Friday when Harjinder returns for the weekend.

Sadbh’s update – November 9, 2014

Sadbh woke up just before Harjinder’s shift ended and she was delighted to see Mommy take over.
It was a busy morning in the house and Sadbh helped get breakfast ready for the guests.

After breakfast we Skyped with my brother and his family back in Cork. Sadbh was so happy to get to see her cousin Fionn and she was impressed as he bounced around in his Jumparoo.

Ali-Baba helped me with trach care while Katie was getting ready.

Our friends hosted a baby sprinkle for Katie, Aoife and Fayee so I got to spend the early part of the afternoon with Sadbh while all the ladies enjoyed brunch. Sadbh was sad to see the ladies leave but soon we were having a great time playing with her Lego’s and all her toy horses.

By the time Katie arrived home I was exhausted, as Sadbh’s energy level seemed to intensify.
She was over the moon to see Mommy, Cammy and Ali-Baba arrive home.

The rest of the evening was spent playing and before bedtime Sadbh got to watch a few of her favorite cartoons.
Bedtime was easy and Sadbh was fast asleep in no time.

Sadbh’s update – November 8, 2014

Sadbh slept well and woke up shortly after Mommy took over from Harjinder.
She had a busy morning playing and kept asking when her visitors were going to arrive. Katie’s aunt, Cammy and cousin, Beth, were due to arrive around ten and Sadbh was so excited when they finally arrived.

We had Sadbh’s trach change scheduled for today so after Cammy and Beth got settled in Katie and I got to work. Sadbh wanted to see her new toys but was reluctant to allow us to change out her trach. We had to remind her of our agreement and when the time came for her to roll her head back to give us a big neck she did so without any issues. Trach change was complete and as soon as she was dressed she got busy playing with her new Lego.

Ali-Baba stopped by and Sadbh could not believe her luck. It was time for a tea party and Sadbh showed everyone how to drink tea with their pinkies up in the air. Fun times for everyone.

The rest of the day was spent building her Lego’s with Beth and by the end of the day she was hooked on Lego.
Beth headed out to meet a couple of her friends. Just as she was getting ready Sadbh became very interested in her make up. With that Sadbh got to wear lipstick for the first time.
When it came time for her to go to bed she was exhausted and she was off to sleep in no time.

Sadbh’s update – November 7, 2014

Sadbh slept right up until Jessica’s shift ended and woke up in a happy mood. She wanted Mommy immediately but after some playing around she quickly cheered up.

We had another great day and after she finished her schoolwork we headed off for a very long walk. Our first port of call was the playground up in Madrona. Sadbh was thrilled to be heading to the park and she especially loved the swings. She is getting to be quite the dare devil and kept asking for me to push her faster and faster.

After an hour and a half in the playground we then headed off up to Capitol Hill and to Trader Joes. Sadbh wanted to sit in the stroller so I ended up pushing her and all her equipment the twenty or so hilly blocks there and back.

The rest of our evening went well and during dinner we chatted with Sadbh about trach change that we have planned for tomorrow. Part of our agreement is that if Sadbh is a brave girl and allows us to manage the change out without any issues, she gets two Lego horses and a Lego foal. She is all excited and fingers crossed she will hold up her end of the bargain.

Bedtime was a little later than usual as we visited a neighbor for a short while after dinner. Sadbh was not in the mood to socialize and by the time we arrived home she was completely pooped.
She was out cold as soon as she was in her pajamas and under her blankets.

Sadbh’s update – November 6, 2014

Sadbh slept in until shortly after eight. She had woken up around six and asked Jessica to take her pulse ox probe off before rolling over and going back to sleep.

As soon as she was up, it was time for breakfast and she had a nice big appetite.

Sadbh and I had another fun day and spent the morning doing homework and building a sunlight ornament. I had to do most of the work but it was a fun project for the both of us and Sadbh really liked the end result.

Neil popped in for a cup of tea and Sadbh was happy to see him. It was lunchtime and Sadbh had too much energy to sit down for lunch. This all changed when we Skyped with Sophia and Sadbh eventually sat in front of the computer to talk with her German sister. By the time she finished Skyping her lunch was almost finished.

The rest of the day was spent reading books and playing with her dolls.

Trach care went well and Sadbh fell asleep as soon as her head hit her pillow.

Sadbh’s update – November 5, 2014

Sadbh came running up the stairs shortly before seven after a great night sleep. She was in a brilliant mood and wanted to watch some Curious George, as Mommy was getting ready for work.

Sadbh had a big appetite for breakfast and gobbled up everything that was made for her.
As soon as she was done it was time to get dressed and ready for some home schooling and arts and crafts. I made it a little more fun this time and Sadbh was a lot more engaged.

When she was done with arts and crafts it was time to listen to her favorite song and dance around the dining room. It was so much fun and both of us laughed for ages.

Sadbh got to chat with her aunt Trish and her cousin Josh in New Zealand. She somehow got it into her head that she wanted to visit Josh when her trach comes out so she could marry him. No doubt that there needs to be some explaining to be done.

After lunch we headed over to take care of an errand in West Seattle and just as we arrived Sadbh started nodding off to sleep with her trach cap on. I let her sleep on for twenty minutes or so but eventually we needed to move on and despite taking her out of the car she still napped on my shoulder for another while.

Our next port of call was Costco. Sadbh was excited to try out the new piggyback attachment for her stroller. It’s a step with wheels that attaches to the back of her stroller and it made for a fun and exciting trip through Costco.

When we arrived home it was time to read and get dinner ready. Sadbh took over an hour to eat dinner but was excited when Mommy eventually arrived.

Before bedtime she got to pull out all her dolls, all fifteen of them, and set them up for bed. She give one each to Katie and me to cuddle and every so often she would run over and nurse them. It was so funny.

Trach care went very easy and Sadbh was fast asleep not long afterwards.

Sadbh’s update – November 4, 2014

Sadbh slept in until shortly after six and thankfully went back to sleep as soon as Jessica told her that it was still nighttime.
She slept for almost another hour and once awake she was eager to get upstairs to see Mommy. I came in to take over from Jessica and Sadbh did not want to have anything to do with me. She bolted up the stairs and was delighted to see Katie waiting for her at the top.
Once she arrived at the top of the stairs she turned around, told me that she loved me and that she cannot wait to spend the day with me.

We both had a fantastic day together and got to catch up from not seeing each other for the past few days.

It was a damp day but since the rain had stopped we headed out for a short trip up to Volunteer Park. Sadbh could not wait to get out of the car and go splashing through the puddles. It was a lot of fun and by the time she was done she was soaked.
Once in the car she was quickly dry and warmed up.

When we arrived home Sadbh got to chat with Nana and Granddad and kept asking about her cousin Fionn.

After dinner she set up all her dolls in the basement and pretended to watch movies with them.

She was very tired when it came time for bed. We were able to get trach care done before she went to bed and after a quick snuggle she was off to sleep.
