Sadbh’s update – July 7 2015

Sadbh slept well but woke up confused and not too happy to be separated from the rest of us. She hid from the nurse for a while but soon she warmed up to Jirapa and then she told her all about her weekend with her friends in Seabrook.

Sadbh’s cousins from Hong Kong arrived in Seattle last night and she could not wait to see them. Her morning was spent hanging out with Poppy who was in town for the day. They had a great time hanging out and when he left it was not long before her cousins arrived.
The rest of the day was spent hanging out and having a great time with each other. Sadbh was so excited and did not want them to leave when it came time for them to head back to their grandmothers house.
She’s already looking forward to seeing them in a couple of days.

Bedtime was very easy as she was completely wiped out from a fun filled day.

Sadbh's quote of the day: I wish I could be a pencil fairy so I could eat all the pencils.

Sadbh’s update – July 6 2015

Cillian had both Katie and me up for most of the night but thankfully Sadbh slept soundly and did not wake until 8.
I had gotten up earlier and started to get everything packaged up for the trip home.
Once Sadbh was awake it was time to break down her equipment and get that packaged away and into the car.

We managed to get on the road on schedule but had multiple stops along the way so Sadbh could go potty.

All in all it was an uneventful journey, especially compared to last year. Suzie even followed us for part of the trip to offer help if needed. We did not realize this at first and as soon as we found out we were extremely touched by her thoughtfulness and consideration.

We arrived home in the early afternoon and once the kids were comfortable in the house I started off loading the car and setting Sadbh’s equipment up. It took forever.
Once complete it was time for Sadbh and Cillian to take a bath and then time for Sadbh’s trach care.
Poppy, Katie’s dad, arrived just as we were getting set up and Sadbh ran to give him a huge hug.

Trach care was quick enough, although poor little Cillian was extremely tired and screamed at us the whole way through.
Once we were done it was time for dinner and by the time Sadbh finished it was well past her bedtime.

She was delirious and bounced from wall to wall. Once in bed it did not take long for her to fall asleep.

Sadbh’s update – July 4 2015

Sadbh slept like a log and woke up in a very good mood.
It was her friend Cormac’s birthday so we had a full day of celebrations planned.

Sadbh and her friends had a very fun day and consumed massive quantities of sugary treats.

We had planned on heading down to the beach to check out the fireworks but by the time we were getting ready to head down Sadbh was getting very tired. The day had caught up with her so we got her ready for bed instead. She was out seconds after her head hit her pillow.

Sadbh’s update – July 3 2015

Sadbh slept great and did us all a favor by sleeping in until nine.
We checked in with Luna’s parents first thing to see how she was feeling and we were delighted to learn that Luna was feeling well and was clear of any cold like symptoms.

We had planned a beach trip for all the kids in the afternoon but unfortunately Sadbh had a melt down prior to going. Instead we decided to go for a spin in the car in the hope that Sadbh would cool off and learn a thing or two.

We ended up on the beach in Ocean Shores and as soon as I parked both Katie and Sadbh took off running through the sand and the surf.
They had a great time together but unfortunately Sadbh took a tumble and went head first into the water. Katie was quick to react and managed to grab her before her head and neck went under.
Katie managed to bang up her knee in the process so we had to stop off at a clinc to make sure everything was ok.

The rest of the day was great and Sadbh had so much fun with all of her friends.

Sadbh’s update – July 2 2015

Sadbh slept great and woke up ready to play with her friends at seven. It was still quiet throughout the house so she had to hang out with us until everyone else started to get up.

Once up, our friends Emmanuelle and Claudio informed us that their eldest daughter, Luna, woke up with some congestion. Not being sure if it was simply sniffles from the air conditioning or the onset of a cold they figured it was best to let us know, which we appreciated so much.
Unsure of what the prognosis was, we had a discussion over breakfast with the entire group to figure out the best course of action.
Worst-case scenario, Luna had the beginnings of a cold and, if so, Sadbh was already exposed since they were playing together yesterday evening.
Best-case scenario it was a slight sniffle due to being in an air-conditioned house after spending the last few weeks in very hot conditions in Seattle.
We decided to wait it out to see how Luna faired while taking all the necessary precautions.
The day went well and Luna did not have any further symptoms throughout the day.
We are so lucky to have such an understanding group of friends. Katie and I also decided that we will probably not go on any group trips in future as we are sure it puts unnecessary stress and worry on our friends.

Sadbh and her friends had a great day and she got to spend an hour or so in the pool. The pool was packed and there was water being splashed all over the place. I had my work cut out for me trying to keep Sadbh’s trach dry and it was extremely stressful. The smile on her face made it all worth while.

By bedtime Sadbh was very tired and thankfully she was asleep much earlier than last night.
