Sadbh’s update – June 1st, 2012

Sadbh slept upstairs with us last night and she was quite restless. She ended up spending most of the night snuggled with us.
Katie spotted a new tooth coming out, so this definitely explains all the discomfort that Sadbh has been going through.

She was ready for breakfast by 7:30 and afterwards it was time for the fun and games to start.

Kara was working today, so this gave Nini a little relief.
Sadbh was in her element and was very happy making sounds when practicing on her Passy Muir Valve. We are quite surprised with all the sounds that she is able to make, considering that the PMV has a hole in the valve. It’s obvious that Sadbh is getting used to wearing it, and is channeling some of her exhaled air up through her vocal cords.

Sadbh had an appointment with her Cranial Osteopath specialist, Dr. Cavanaugh today.

After Sadbh arrived home from her appointment, it was time to Skype with Granddad and Nana back home in Cork. She was delighted to see them both and could not stop throwing them kisses.

Trach care was very straightforward for Nini and Kara today as Sadbh was exhausted from her mornings’ activities. She slept for almost two hours and after she woke up she had quite the appetite.

Katie and Nini went out to watch a movie so I got a chance to spend the evening with my little princess.
She was in a great mood and wanted to get outside to check out the scene. She is very social and was happy hanging out with the neighbors.

She got quite cranky about an hour and a half before bedtime and she was pulling at her trach tie non-stop. After inspecting her trach tie I noticed that her neck was getting quite raw and this was obviously causing her some pain.

I thought I was going to have my work cut out for me when trying to get her to sleep and she did start to get very upset. But within 30 seconds of cuddling her, she passed out and fell into a nice deep sleep.
I hope she lasts through the night without any problems.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
