Sadbh's update - day 92
We didn't have nurses today to look after Sadbh. After the night nurse left this morning, Katie brought Sadbh up to our room so they could both get a couple of hours extra sleep.
It's actually quite difficult when we don't have nurses. It's impossible to do the simplest of things, like take a shower, etc. since Sadbh requires constant attention. Anyway, Katie did great and the day went well for the most part.
When I got home from work, I took over looking after Sadbh while Katie ran some errands. It wasn't long before Princess Angry Bird arrived on the scene, however I was able to get her calmed down after a while and without getting stressed out.Lately, when Sadbh gets really worked up, we are starting to hear a little cry. Until now, she cries in silence, not a sound, so it's exciting to hear her cries. Not sure if it means anything, but it seems to be a welcome development.
No news from the insurance company on changing agencies, and no updates on any improvements on the nursing schedule with the current agency.
Take care,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.

Sadbh's update - day 91
Sadbh was one little cranky girl today. Not sure what caused it, but she was so upset all evening. It was a serious test of everyones patience and no matter what we did, it wasn't enough to calm Princess Angry Bird.
I think she was overly tired, and as a result, couldn't be consoled. What worries me when she get's so worked up is that her secretions increase and it could cause her to asphyxiate. She requires constant attention and we end up having to suction her trach every few moments.
We did get a few photos of Sadbh with her new shades on. Too cute and very cool, if I say so myself.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.

Sadbh's update - day 90 Three month birthday!!
Since we did not have a nurse to look after Sadbh on Saturday night, Katie and I decided to try something different. Rather than take shifts staying awake to watch over her all night, we decided to move all her medical equipment up to our room and use the co-sleeper cot that attaches to the side of our bed for her to sleep in. This worked out extremely well and all three of us got a good nights sleep. The hassle of moving all the equipment was well worth it.
Today was a very relaxing day for all three of us. Sadbh had her first visit to West Seattle and was able to enjoy the West Seattle street festival. It was a gorgeous day and the festival was great, however Sadbh decided she wanted to sleep through the whole event. I suppose, at the end of the day, it's not a bad way to spend the day, especially since it's her three month birthday.
Take care,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
Sadbh's update - day 89
On the weekends, I take over from Katie for feeding Sadbh during the night. Around 3am on Saturday morning, I got the call from the nurse and headed down to s room to take care of business. She was quite hungry and took to the bottle without hesitation. She has a ferocious appetite and it doesn't take long before the bottle is empty. After giving her a quick burp, change of her diaper and switching her Oximeter probe to her other foot, it was time for her to go back to sleep. Usually she's quite quick to go back to sleep, but this morning she was full of smiles and giggles, silent giggles.
I worked quite hard to get her to sleep, and after a few minutes I felt quite proud, and even considered that I had developed the knack in getting my little girl to sleep. Just then, she opened her eyes, turned her head to me and gave me a huge giggle. Yet again, Sadbh showed me who was boss.
Saturday was a hectic day running errands. Sadbh came along for the ride, and was great the whole time. We are very fortunate that she is such an easy going kid.
Saturday evening was spent at the Crean's, celebrating the homecoming of baby Cormac. It was a great evening and Sadbh had a good time hanging out with her new friends.
Photos from May 9th. May 9th is when Sadbh received her treach, however it seems like it was just yesterday. She's been through so much in such a short amount of time, but it's great to see how big she's getting and how well she is developing.
All the best for now,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.

Sadbh's update - day 88
Sadbh had herself another good day today. After her dinner this evening, we headed up to Northgate to run a few errands and then headed out for Sushi with some of the gang. Sadbh typically falls asleep fairly quickly when we in the car, however today she was wide eyed and checking everything out. Every so often, she would look over at me and give me a big smile. Shortly before we arrived at the restaurant, she decided that she had enough sight seeing and figured it was a good time to take a nap.
It wasn't very long ago when it was just all adults going out for dinner and a couple of drinks. Tonight it seemed that the adults were fairly close in being outnumbered by kids and there might not be enough room for us all. That said, we all managed to cram into one booth, much to the amusement of the staff and other customers.
The insurance company was working hard to get another nursing agency signed up by the end of the day today, however since we never did hear back from them, we are optimistic that we will have this taken care of by Monday morning.
We do have one nurse scheduled for tonight, but tomorrow night we are flying solo. It's not such a big deal over the weekend since we don't have to work the next morning, but it's looking like we might have a few nights and days without nurse care next week. Hopefully we can get this resolved sooner, rather than later.
Have a great weekend,
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.

Sadbh's update - day 87
Sadbh had a good day today, the highlight of her day was an hour of playtime on the farm play-matt with Ali-Baba. Usually she only lasts 10 to 15 minutes on the play matt before she starts to get bored. It's quite obvious that Ali-Baba has the magic touch.
Sadbh received a new lower sleeping wedge from her Occupational/Physical Therapist yesterday and got to test it out today. She now has more room to move around, and is also positioned lower in her cot.
We are making some progress with the insurance company. Katie played phone tag today, however we hope to learn more tomorrow as to what the next steps are and how long it's going to take to get another agency online.
Regarding our existing agency, we are currently looking at four nights within the next week that we will not have nurse care. I honestly hope they can pull their heads out and get this situation resolved as soon as possible.
Take care,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
