Sadbh’s update – July 16th, 2012

All the chatting wore poor little Sadbh out and as s result she slept like a log all night.
Sadbh was so relaxed, Larissa did not even have to suction once.

She was in such a great mood when she woke up at 7am, and even though she did not have her Passy Muir Valve on, she was still making lots of sounds.
It was time for breakfast and Sadbh enjoyed playing with her cereal.

Nadia was working today and Sadbh was delighted to see her.
It turned out to be a nice morning so Sadbh, Nadia and Nini headed outside for a while to play.
Eventually Sadbh grew tired so it was back in for a nap and trach care.
Everything went well and Sadbh slept for almost two hours.

As soon as she was awake, it was time to try out the Passy Muir Valve. Sadbh did great and was able to tolerate it for 40 minutes. She was making so many wonderful sounds, it was music to everyone’s ears.
We believe she is tolerating it more easily now since she is realizing that the sounds are coming from her and she is liking the sounds of her own voice.

She had a wonderful afternoon and after lunch she got to head out for a walk to her favorite park. She could not stop blowing kisses to all the other kids in the park, and even gave one girl a high five.
She was exhausted by the time she arrived home, so it was time for her second nap of the day.

I arrived home just after she woke up and it was time for some more fun.
We tried out the Passy Muir Valve as soon as Katie arrived home and Sadbh was in her element making sounds. She clearly said Daddy at one point, while also doing the baby sign for daddy. It was very emotional and it was hard to hold back the tears.
She even started to shout and loved doing so.

Due to all the excitement, dinner was a little later than usual and Sadbh ate while still wearing her PMV. She did fantastic and could not stop talking as she ate.

I think she got a little too excited as it took forever to get her to sleep.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
