Sadbh’s update – July 3rd, 2012

It was a restless night for Sadbh and she had to be suctioned constantly. We were grateful that Larissa was working as she kept Sadbh as comfortable as possible thought out the night.
Despite all the restlessness and suctioning, Sadbh managed to get back to sleep each time without any difficulty.

Sadbh finally woke up at 7am and was ready for breakfast. Shortly after nursing, Sadbh had a coughing fit and threw up twice, all over her room. Katie and Nini were quick to respond and managed to keep Sadbh’s trach clear of any vomit.
Regardless, Sadbh was in a really good mood and was eager for more breakfast.

Molly was working today and Sadbh was very happy to see her.
The rain had cleared up so Nini and Molly bundled Sadbh up and headed out to Nini’s favorite coffee shop. Sadbh bumped into her friend, the owner’s son and they both waved and blew kisses to each other, much to the delight of everyone there.
Afterwards they headed off to a park where Sadbh was in her element watching all the dogs and airplanes.

It was time for trach care as soon as they arrived home. Sadbh started to have a coughing fit just as Nini was getting her ready for bed, so they had to wait until she calmed down before she could finally drift off to sleep.
Once she was asleep, trach care was very straightforward and Sadbh slept for almost an hour.

Lunch was served as soon as Sadbh woke up and she had a ferocious appetite.
Then it was time to Skype with Nini’s boyfriend Chris and his family in Munich. It was Chris’s birthday today so Sadbh got to join in on the birthday wishes.

The weather kept improving throughout the day so Sadbh was bundled up and they headed out towards Madrona and stopped off at a couple of view points above Lake Washington to enjoy the scenery.
As soon as Sadbh seen the lake, she immediately started to make the sign for boats and got very excited.

Sadbh had a fun packed evening and got to play with so many of her toys. She really loves books so just before bedtime I read at least 6 books to her. She couldn’t get enough and I eventually had to stop before I fell asleep.

The coughing fits returned as soon as it was time for bed and poor Sadbh ended up throwing up her entire dinner. We had to change all her clothes again and her coughing was keeping her awake, you could tell it was hard to keep her eyes open.

Thankfully Larissa is working again tonight so we hope Sadbh will have a decent night sleep.

Take care and Happy 4th of July,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
