Sadbh’s update – September 18 2015

Sadbh started pre-school today and she could not get out the door fast enough. She has been looking forward to this day for a very long time and now that she is trach free she get’s to go.
We had met with her teachers last week and earlier this week to go over Sadbh’s medical condition and to assess if this school was a good fit based on hygiene and care from the staff.
Apart from the obvious educational, social and developmental benefits from attending school we also have to start to slowly introduce germs and colds to help boost Sadbh’s immune system.
Sadbh’s teachers invited me to join in for the first day of classes to observe and to provide any feedback that may benefit their program to care for their students, specifically Sadbh.

Sadbh had an absolutely amazing day. I’ve never seen her smiling so much and for so long. She was in her element and I was so proud as she listened attentively and did everything the teachers asked of her.  I only wish she behaved the same way at home.
Even though it was only for four hours it was a long day for Sadbh and she was exhausted by the time we got home. Despite this she did not slow down and she was on the go for the rest of the day.
It took a while to get her to bed but soon she was sound asleep but not before asking how many more days until she could go to school again.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie, Sadbh and Cillian
