Sadbh had her pre-op
appointment with Dr. Inglis today and we were all excited and nervous.
We discussed how Sadbh often
struggles to breathe, especially when she is tired or upset, and how she has
dealt with colds since she has been trach free.
He was satisfied with
Sadbh’s progress and gave us the green light to have her stoma closed up
surgically.
She is scheduled for surgery
on March 7th and she will stay in overnight for observation.
While we are delighted that Sadbh’s
stoma will soon be closed up and that she will be able to lead a more normal
life, we are still very aware that she has a restricted airway that will limit
her in participating in activities where she over exerts herself.
The procedure that has allowed
her to be trach free has also damaged her voice and now she has a soft whispery
voice and she has to work hard to be heard.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie, Sadbh and
Cillian
