Sadbh returned to school on Monday after a
month off due to her surgery. She was so excited to see all her friends and her
first two days were wonderful.
By Tuesday night she was complaining of pain in
her side and chest and on Wednesday I received a call from the school nurse
asking for me to come collect her. By then the pain had returned and she also
had a bad headache.
We immediately contacted Dr. Inglis to see if
any of Sadbh’s symptoms were of any concern as they related to her surgery and
thankfully he was quick to respond that he felt that there was nothing to be
concerned about and that we should follow up with Sadbh’s pediatrician.
It took ages to get Sadbh off to sleep and by 2
she was wide-awake with a slight temperature. We gave her some Tylenol and she
slept well for the rest of the night.
We kept her home from school and for most of
the morning she was completely wiped out.
Then all of a sudden she got this blast of
energy and she could not rest for the remainder of the day.
It was obvious that this is all part of being
sick but it is near impossible to get a wound up 5 (almost 6!) year old to
relax when all she want’s to do is play.
By bedtime her temperature was starting to rise
again so we gave her some Ibuprofen and tucked her into bed.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie, Sadbh and Cillian
