Sadbh’s update – September 18th, 2012

Sadbh slept like a log last night and did not budge until after 7am. She woke up in a good mood and was ready for breakfast.
As Katie was preparing food in the kitchen, she could not help but notice Sadbh laughing her head off in her high chair (she had her Passy Muir Valve on, so it was loud laughter). When she poked her head around the corner, there was Sadbh, covered in banana and cereal and laughing like crazy. She kept placing her bowl on her head while giggling.

While playing with her dog she kept trying to place her bottle on its head again. This time she succeeded in balancing it and she was very proud in herself.

After a fun packed morning, Katie and Ali-Baba gave Sadbh a nice bath and once she was fast asleep it was time for trach care.
Kara, Sadbh’s nurse for the day arrived shortly after trach care was finished.  Sadbh was in a deep sleep, so Katie snuck off to work while Ali-Baba and Kara looked after her.  Sadbh must have been very tired as she slept for over two hours.

She was delighted to see Kara when she woke up and after lunch they headed out for a walk through the neighborhood.

Sadbh and Kara arrived home at the same time as I did and Sadbh gave me the biggest smile as soon as I stepped out of the car.

It was another evening of fun and games and I could not believe the amount of energy that she had. It was impossible to keep up with her and after an hour or so I was wrecked tired.

A short while before Katie arrived home, Sadbh wanted a bottle of milk. As soon as I opened the fridge she noticed a lemon and instantly wanted it. She started chewing on it and eventually managed to poke a hole in it with her finger. Next she stuck her binky into the hole and after that it went into her mouth. What a face she made, but it did not stop her from going for seconds, and thirds and on and on. It was so funny to see her face scrunch up each time.

Dinner was fun and she entertained us again by placing her dinner bowl over her face.  We know we don’t want to encourage this behavior, but it really is quite funny to see.

She was very tired when it came bedtime, but it did not stop her from dancing before finally hitting the sack.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
