Sadbh's update - day 84 4th of July

This morning I got up at 6am to take over from the night nurse. An hour into it, I figured that it might be best if I brought Sadbh up to our bed so we could all get some well deserved rest. I propped Sadbh up on my chest and shortly afterwards, both of us were fast asleep in each others company.
About an hour later, both of us woke up and I have to say, nothing beats waking up with your little baby looking right at you with a huge smile on her face. That's the way to start off every day.

Sadbh's first 4th of July was a fun day spent chatting with friends, eating food, and sleeping.
Gerry, Sarah and Dylan invited us all over to theirs for a BBQ, and since their house is west facing, it was a great way to spend a day in the sun.
Typically, the 4th of July is a cloudy day in Seattle, and the on going joke here is that summer doesn't actually start until the 5th. Well, this weekend was absolutely fantastic. Temperatures in the 80's (high 20'a celsius) and plenty of sun. Not very Seattle, but very welcome all the same.

Sadbh spent the first few hours sleeping along side her new friend Conor. It's amazing how these little people can sleep for so long.

Eventually it was time to wake up and catch up on the social scene at Gerry's and Sarah's.

Dylan, who is around six months old, is such the entertainer. He is a very cool little man with a happy disposition, and he sports a great hat. It has to be said, to be in Dylan's company, ones worries melt away and you tent to enjoy life to the fullest.

It's quite interesting how the dynamic has changed over the years. For ever and a day, it was all adults hanging out and having fun, now it's all about the kids. We joked today that by the time our kids will be old enough to drink, we will all be retired, and it might not be long after where they will have to take care of us.

Our good friend Suzie went into labor this morning and we just heard that they had a baby boy this evening. Congratulations Suzie, Derek and Clodagh. Sadbh can't wait to meet her newest friend.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July.
