Sadbh slept great and was up and ready for action
shortly after seven this morning.
We had to be packed and out of the house by ten so it
was full steam ahead for us all for the next few hours.
Sadbh was great and managed to allow us to get things
done without needing much attention.
Just before we left we said goodbye to Kim and Finn,
as they had to head off to catch a flight back to Australia. We were sad to see
them go and cannot wait until they come back for another visit. Hopefully next
year.
Sadbh got to help Roseanne on her jigsaw puzzle
before we had to leave. It was a very complicated puzzle so Sadbh did not
really make much progress.
The road trip went really well and Sadbh was an angel
the whole time. We made it home in record time and Sadbh managed to sleep for
over an hour.
She was thrilled when she woke up and realized that
we were home and could not wait to get inside the house.
We were able to get the car off loaded, all of
Sadbh’s medical equipment set back up and her medical supplies restocked in
just under an hour and a half. Just in time to have a quick cup of tea before
starting trach care.
As soon as we finished it was time to meet a
potential new nurse. We really were not in the mood but since Helen is leaving
in a few weeks we had no choice.
The meeting went surprisingly well and Kim seems like
a real good candidate.
Sadbh also really liked Kim and offered her some food
from her toy bakery. When Kim was leaving Sadbh kept asking her questions and
as she headed down the path Sadbh shouted out, “where’s your car”? It was
hilarious.
The rest of the evening was spent playing with Sadbh
and relaxing. By bedtime she was very tired but was still very playful.
Katie was eventually able to get her off to sleep and
by nine she was out like a light.
We found out this evening that a wildfire started up not far from where we were staying and the air was getting thick with smoke. Thankfully Sadbh did not have to deal with that and we hope that the fire gets under control quickly without any further damage.
Today is my one year anniversary as a stay at home dad. I can honestly say that this has been the toughest but most rewarding job I have had since I first started working at fifteen years of age.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh
