Sadbh woke up shortly before seven and I found her
coming up from the basement with a big bucket of toys. Typically, on the
weekdays, we do not give Sadbh access to her toys until after lunch and a nap
or quiet time. The reason for this is that once she has her toys it is very
difficult to motivate her to participate in home school activities.
Regardless, she was grinning from ear to ear and
could not wait to show off all her toys to Jirapa.
Sadbh’s morning was good and we actually got to spend
quite a bit of time being very creative with her play dough.
Around lunchtime things went down hill and the rest
of the day was a bit of a roller coaster between Sadbh and I.
She was quite tired early on in the day but since she
refused to take a nap it only got worse as the day went on.
We did have a few good moments throughout the day,
one being a nice walk though the neighborhood to Nora’s Woods. Sadbh had Mommy and
Cillian chase her around the wood for a while and then pretended that she was
red riding hood while I pretended to be the wolf.
Katie had plans to meet some friends for a movie
early in the evening so after dinner Sadbh and I watched a movie of our own.
She was all excited and really enjoyed watching Shrek 2. Unfortunately, when
the movie ended she got very upset when she realized that Mommy was not home
and the next round kicked off. By now Cillian was also very upset and when
Katie checked in to see how things were going I gave in and asked if she could
come home to help out.
Sadbh cheered right up as soon as she walked in the
door but by now we were all exhausted.
At times it seems impossible to reason with an upset
3 year old especially when they are very tired.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie, Sadbh and Cillian
