Sadbh
woke up in a fantastic mood and she could not wait to see her grandparents.
We
had a very busy morning getting ready for a few days away at Lake Chelan. Nana
and Sophia kept Sadbh entertained while the rest of us got the cars loaded with
our things and Sadbh’s medical equipment.
Before
we hit the road we got Sadbh prepared for trach care and her monthly trach
change. We had talked with her throughout the morning to get her prepared but
unfortunately she was not too eager to have her trach changed.
Sadbh
was very tired when we got set up so we waited until she fell asleep
beforehand.
Everything
was going well until I inserted the new trach when she suddenly closed her neck
and started to get very upset. Thankfully I was able to get the new trach in
however we were not fully sure it was in the correct place until we suctioned
and were able to hear her breathe through it. It was so stressful for everyone.
As
soon as we were sure that Sadbh was ok we secured her trach ties and Mommy
comforted Sadbh while I got her a bowl of ice cream. The combinations of a nice
loving snuggle and a bowl of ice cream did the trick.
The
road trip went very well and Sadbh was excited to get to Chelan and to see her
friends.
Her
evening was spent playing with Cormac, Clodagh, Dylan and Sophia and the kids
had a fantastic time.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
