Sadbh’s update – day 349 March 25th, 2012

Sadbh had another great night sleep and did not join us in bed until after 4am, at which time, breakfast was served.
As soon as she was done, she was back to sleep, and cuddled up to me for the next few hours. Usually she sleeps across the bed, with her head in my side, and her feet kicking Katie. This morning, she was snuggled up against me and did not budge for ages.

By 8am, Sadbh was wide-awake and ready for action.
Her nappy smelt very ripe, so it did not take long for us to get motivated.
After a change and breakfast, her morning was spent playing with Granddad and Nini.

We Skyped with Nini’s parents and sister Kati in Munich. Karina, Nini’s mother, is an ENT doctor who specializes in Homeopathy, so we discussed in detail the Botox procedure that we are facing this week.
Karina has been extremely supportive since day one, and has provided us with a lot of expert advice and options.
Katie and I are still weighing or options and we are leaning towards going forward with the Botox treatment.

Just before noon, Sadbh started to tire, so it was time for trach care.
She was exhausted, allowing Katie and my father to carry out trach care quite easily. She slept for almost an hour, and had lunch after she woke up.

As soon as she was done feeding, it was time to jump in the car and head over to Ballard to meet up with some friends for lunch. Ballard was packed due to the Sunday market and the fact that it was such a beautiful day. We found an Italian restaurant and it was perfect.
Sadbh had a delicious variety of goodies for lunch, however this time she threw up a couple of times.
It has to be said, if an adult got sick while out in a bar or restaurant, they would get shown the door fairly quickly. However, as soon as Sadbh got sick, she received a few oohs and ahs.
Aidan showed Sadbh some moves, and was very keen to play with her.

After lunch, we headed over to visit Ali-Baba and Kirk.
Sadbh slept for about 20 minutes on the way over.
She woke up when we arrived, and it was time for a light snack. When it came time to change her nappy, it took two people to try and contain her, and eventually Katie had to put the nappy on with Sadbh standing up.
Sadbh had a great time at Ali-Baba’s house, and was so full of energy.

Neil stopped by the house tonight to say good-bye to my father, and at one stage when he was holding Sadbh she got very upset.
She was wiped out when it came to bedtime, and started to fall asleep as soon as we got her pajamas on.
We do not have a nurse tonight, so we are hoping that she sleeps throughout the night, so we can all get a good nights rest.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
