Sadbh's 3:30 appointment was moved up to 1:30 and within 45 minutes she was back in the NICU, with a trech and hooked up to the ventilator as a precaution. The procedure went really well and Dr. Inglis expects that the stoma (opening in her throat) should heal within a week.
They just x-rayed her chest and airway to check how everything looks on the inside, and they also checked her blood gas level. Everything came back great, so the plan is to take her off the ventilator and use a Trach collar to humidify the air that she is breathing in. This means that Sadbh will be breathing on her own, without the aid of a ventilator. This is a huge milestone.
