Thursday night started off great and
Sadbh was sound asleep until 12:45am. For the next hour or so, she was coughing
up a storm and it freaked both Katie and me out.
We eventually managed to get her
calmed down and once she woke up in the morning we called her pediatrician to
see if we could bring her in for a check up. Thankfully they were able to get
us an appointment for 9:40.
As soon as her appointment was set,
we headed down stairs and Sadbh got started on her breakfast.
Later, Sadbh got to meet a new
potential nurse at 9am and true to form, Sadbh was very friendly and took a
shine to the new nurse immediately.
The interview only lasted 30 minutes,
as we had to sprint off to the doctor’s office for her check up.
We were very fortunate that Dr. Bowe
was able to see her and after a quick examination he instantly ruled out
pneumonia or anything else serious.
He checked all her vital signs and
after reviewing her symptoms over the last week, he was not necessarily
concerned about whooping cough.
Sadbh was getting extremely restless by
the time we were finishing up at the doctor’s office and we could tell that she
was getting tired.
We started her trach care routine
shortly after arriving home and within no time, Sadbh was fast asleep.
Trach care was very straightforward
and Sadbh slept for another hour or so afterwards.
Sadbh originally had an appointment
with her Cranial Osteopathic physician, Dr. Cavanaugh in the morning, but we
had to reschedule for the afternoon to make time for her appointment with her
pediatrician.
Dr. Cavanaugh’s treatment went well
and despite Sadbh getting very fussy and restless, he made good progress and
could tell that his last treatment was also holding up well.
We had planned on going to the Zoo
with Cormac and Clodagh today, however we ran out of time and decided to head
over to their house for a play date instead.
Sadbh had a wonderful time hanging
out with Cormac and playing with his Lego’s. Clodagh joined in on the fun after
she woke up from her nap, and both she and Sadbh got to dance.
Sadbh had a fantastic evening and was
ready for bed by 8pm. As soon as Katie got her ready, Sadbh unleashed an
incredible amount of energy and would not settle down.
She was adamant in making sure that
her doll was put to bed first.
Eventually she got herself so worked
up that she started coughing like crazy and after a number of suctions, she
threw up everything. Katie tried every trick in the book and after filling the
bathroom up with steam from the shower, it seemed to help clear Sadbh’s congestion.
An hour or so later, Sadbh finally
dropped off to sleep and slept soundly for the next few hours.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
