Sadbh was out like a light last
night, however we accidentally woke her up when we went to bed.
She was not impressed and it took
almost an hour for Katie to get her back to sleep.
She finally fell back to sleep and
had a fantastic sleep until 6am. Once she woke up, Katie brought her into bed
and Sadbh slept on for another couple of hours.
It seemed that she had gotten a
little too much sleep as she was very groggy and appeared to be still tired
when she woke up.
We did not have a nurse working
today, so Sadbh got to spend the day playing with Nini.
They had a great morning and after
breakfast it was time to work on her dance moves in the living room.
We currently have painters working on
the outside of the house and Sadbh was fascinated watching them through the
window as they climbed up and down their ladders.
Sadbh had her 15-month check up with
her pediatrician today, so I headed home just after 10am to pick her up.
As we bundled her up to get in the car,
there was a big thunderstorm and Sadbh had a look of surprise on her face.
Sadbh’s visit to the doctor went
really well. She impressed Dr. Bowe with her development and ability to
communicate by signing.
She measured in at 30 inches long and
20 pounds. She’s averaging in he 33 percentile and had made progress since her
last visit.
Dr. Bowe could not believe how good-natured
she was and you could tell that he was smitten by her.
It was a sad visit for us since Dr.
Bowe is moving to a practice on the other side of the city, so it was the last
time we will likely be working with him.
He’s been a fantastic doctor and we
will miss him. On the day that Sadbh was born, the NICU team at Swedish
hospital paged him and he showed up within the first couple of hours to see how
we were doing. This was very impressive considering that it was a Sunday and he
worked for a different practice than the hospital where Sadbh was born.
As soon as Dr. Bowe left, nurse Marie
arrived back with three syringes containing vaccinations for our baby.
She received shots for Pneumococcal,
Diphtheria and Hib.
Sadbh was so happy sitting there, and
as soon as Marie injected the first shot, Sadbh started bawling her eyes out.
It was so sad to see her crying so hard, even though she barely made a sound.
Nurse Marie felt terrible and
mentioned that this was the hardest part of her job. She also said that it would make her life if she could just
hear Sadbh cry out loud.
By the time we finished at the doctor’s
office, Sadbh was getting very tired.
We raced home and started trach care.
She really enjoyed her bath and thankfully she fell asleep very quickly.
Trach care was very straight-forward
and Sadbh slept on for another hour or so.
She was in a great mood when she woke
up and she was ready for a big lunch.
Ali-Baba arrived shortly afterwards
and Sadbh was delighted.
They all had a fantastic afternoon
playing, dancing and reading.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
