We tried a different approach to capping Sadbh’s
trach while she slept. Helen was able to get Sadbh to tolerate her trach capped
with her modified Passy Muir Valve (PMV) from shortly after 1am for almost six
hours. This particular PMV is modified with a tiny pin hole to allow some
relief when she exhales, otherwise it allows her to breath in but when she
exhales she the exhaled air is forced out through her vocal cords and then
through her mouth and nose.
It did become uncomfortable for her around quarter
past seven and this woke her up.
Sadbh was a little cranky this morning and I had to
work extra hard to get her happy.
After breakfast we headed down to Madison Park for a
dip in the lake and Sadbh had a brilliant time throwing rocks into the water
and building sand castles on the beach.
She was not happy to leave but the promise of lunch
won her over and soon she was in a great mood again.
Once she had her belly filled it was time for a bath
and then trach care. She wanted to nap afterwards but this was only a tease.
She had no intention on napping and before long she was out of bed and playing
with her toys.
The rest of her evening was normal and by bedtime she
was like a zombie. Thankfully it did not take long to get her off to sleep.
