Sadbh was awake at 4:30am this morning and was joined shortly there after by Katie for feeding. When Sadbh sleeps upstairs with us, she is usually back to sleep within twenty minutes or so, however when she has a nurse on duty, it takes at least an hour due to all the other distractions.
Our current night nurse who works Monday through Wednesday is great. As a result of her experience and knowledge, she’s very quick to diagnose a potential issue and is great at providing remedies.
For the past few days, we have noticed that Sadbh’s secretions have been getting thicker and more frequent.
Since the weather has gotten colder and we now have the heating on more often, our nurse advised us that Sadbh is probably getting slightly dehydrated and we should increase her fluid intake.
This would also help with any constipation issues experienced.
During playtime with my father today, he placed her on a cushion in the laundry basket for some photos. All of a sudden, she grabbed the end of the basket and pulled herself up and was standing for approximately thirty seconds. I have a feeling that she will be walking before she starts crawling.
Sadbh did not get much sleep today and only napped for a short while. By the time I got home from work, she was wide awake and it took a few hours of playing on the floor mat before she was tired enough to get ready for trach care.
Since trach care was so late in the evening and due to the fact that she was very restless, both my father and I had to power through and get it done as quickly as possible. Thankfully we were able to get it done without any issues and Sadbh fell into a nice deep sleep right afterwards.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
