Sadbh’s update – day 217

Shortly before midnight, Sadbh started a coughing fit that went on for at least thirty minutes and required a great deal of suctioning.
It was extremely worrisome for both Katie and I since she appeared to be choking and it seemed that the suctioning was not solving the issue.

Eventually we gave her some Tylenol and cleared her trach and she fell back to sleep exhausted.

Unfortunately this went on all night and Sadbh was coughing hard every twenty minutes or so.

Around 4am, she woke up and was ready for breakfast. By now she was in better shape and did not require any serious suctioning.

By 7am, she was ready for her second breakfast and this time her coughing started again. While suctioning, I ended up pulling a large mucus plug from her trach, and she seemed to breathe a lot easier afterwards.

After breakfast, it was time for a diaper change and it was off downstairs for some playtime with Granddad and auntie Cammy.

Despite having to be suctioned on a regular basis throughout the day, Sadbh had a fun day and was extremely happy throughout.

Fingers crossed that she will have a better night tonight and that whatever it is that she is fighting will be over with soon.

Take care,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
