Sadbh slept well and woke up around 4
for a feeding and a suction.
Thankfully she fell right back to
sleep for another couple of hours.
It was Mother’s Day here in the US
and despite being the second Mother’s Day for Katie, it we the first Mother’s Day
that she got to spend outside of Children’s hospital.
Katie’s day started off great and we
went for a nice walk through the neighborhood to a café not far away. Sadbh
enjoyed breakfast outside and was excited to see all the people walking by.
We bumped into our next-door
neighbors on our way home and Sadbh got to hang out with Charlie and his puppy
Cauti. She was much more brave this time around and did not fuss when Cauti got
close.
Sadbh was ready for her nap as soon
as we arrived home, so it was time to get ready for trach care.
She loved her bath and as soon as she
was dry and dressed, she was off to sleep in no time.
Trach care was very straightforward
and Sadbh got to sleep on for another hour.
This worked out perfect as we had
plans to go boating with some friends, so it allowed us to get ready for a day
on the lake.
As soon as Sadbh woke up, we bundled
her into the car and headed off to meet with Ali-Baba and our friends Dee,
Brian and their son Aidan.
Sadbh and Aidan had to wear
lifejackets while out on the boat and poor Sadbh looked very uncomfortable in
hers. Her face was all squished up. The first life jacket we tried on
completely blocked her trach but fortunately we had a back up and that worked
just fine.
Sadbh got to venture through Lake Washington, through the Montlake Cut into Lake Union and all the way out to the Ballard Locks.
We all had a fantastic day and on the
way home Sadbh even showed off her latest baby sign for “boat”.
Happy mothers day!
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
