Sadbh had a very restless night and she
kept getting tangled up in her oximeter cord and humidifier hose. By 5:30, she
was ready for a quick breakfast snack. She was not awake for long and fell
right back to sleep until 7.
When she finally got up, she did not
have much of an appetite and what she did eat only came back up after she had a
coughing fit.
Thankfully Nini acted fast and
covered Sadbh’s trach protecting it from her sick.
The weather was gorgeous today so
Nini, Chris, Destiny and Sadbh all went for a long walk through the
neighborhood.
Since Sadbh had not napped yet this
morning, they had to work hard to keep her from falling asleep while out on
their stroll.
She kept dozing off, so Chris took
her out of the stroller and carried her pointing at everything they saw. It
worked and Sadbh made it home without falling asleep.
Once they arrived home, it was time
for a bath and trach care. Everything went well and Sadbh slept for an hour
afterwards.
Once she woke up, it was time for
lunch and Sadbh’s appetite came back in full force.
Sadbh’s friend Conor came by with his
mum Aoife for a play date and Sadbh was over the moon. Aoife’s mum had sent
Sadbh a cute gift of a knitted stuffed cat that was hand made on Arranmore
Island off the NW coast of Ireland and Sadbh loved it.
Both she and Conor had a great
afternoon, but when it came time for Conor to go home, they were both very
tired.
Sadbh had a nice deep sleep for an
hour in the early evening and woke up upset.
She cheered up very quickly as soon
as she got some food in her belly and after she was done I took her for a walk
outside. We bumped into our neighbors and their little daughter Maya. Moments
later, Kate arrived home and Sadbh had the biggest smile ever.
This week is Global Tracheotomy Tube
Awareness Week (GTTAW) and Sadbh’s photo was posted on page 27 of their slide deck on Facebook. Very cool!!
This day last year was Sadbh’s last
night in the NICU.
Take care,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
