Kim was quieter last night, but Katie was still awake
most of the night with little sounds. In an effort to keep the noise down as
much as possible Kim adopted the concept of “if it’s yellow let it mellow, if
it’s brown….” Needless to say, I had to look forward to flushing the toilet
full of coffee pee first thing this morning after she left.
Unfortunately, Sadbh wet the bed during the night but
Kim did a great job of cleaning her up without waking her up.
Sadbh had an appointment with Dr. Cavanaugh first
thing this morning. Moments before we were ready to head out the door we
received a call from Cavanaugh’s office explaining that he had a slight cold
and it would be fine to cancel if wanted to avoid Sadbh getting sick.
We were very grateful and decided to reschedule the
appointment for later next week.
Before lunchtime Sadbh and I headed out to the shops
to get some groceries. Sadbh had fun in the first market as she got to push a
mini trolley around the store.
When we arrived at Trader Joes things took a
nosedive. Sadbh spotted a pack of cupcakes that she really wanted and once she
realized that she was not getting them she threw a huge tantrum in the store.
It took a while to calm her down and it was stressful
having to sanitize and to take her trach cap off so she could relax her
breathing.
Once home it was time to Skype with Nana and Granddad and Sadbh was over the moon to see them. She asked if they were coming to spend Christmas with her and she got so excited when they said yes.
The rest of the day was spent reading and playing and
trying to keep up with Sadbh’s high energy levels. She does not slow down and
since she does not get to play with too many kids her own age she expects me to
spend every waking moment playing with her.
In the evening we carved out one of her pumpkins for
Halloween and Sadbh had a blast.
Trach care went well tonight and Sadbh headed to bed
afterwards.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh
