Sadbh’s new nurse, Jessica, started last night and
Katie and I spent the first hour or so showing her Sadbh’s medical equipment
and supplies. Sadbh was in a deep sleep and did not wake up once the entire
time.
Just as we were finishing up Jessica got very wobbly
and started to faint. I was quick to grab her to prevent her from falling and
was grateful that she came to a few moments later. Jessica is six months
pregnant and she mentioned that she had one similar episode in her first
trimester.
Both Katie and I were nervous in case she would faint
again but she seemed to be fine so we checked in on her over the monitor from
time to time.
Sadbh woke up happy to see Jessica and immediately
started to chat up a storm.
After Jessica’s shift ended it was time to get Sadbh
ready for breakfast. She was in the mood for pancakes and she helped out
beating the eggs and mixing in the rest of the ingredients.
She even asked for some blueberries from the freezer
to add to the mix and it was a great call as the pancakes turned out
wonderfully.
Sadbh is so excited to be a big sister. While having breakfast, Sadbh told
Katie how everything was going to play out. She said, “I know, after Halloween and after Thanksgiving it
will be Christmas. Then you are
going to go to Taco’s doctor and you will push and Taco will come out. Then I will hold Taco very gently and
give Taco lots of hugs.” Katie
told her she was going to be the best big sister and Sadbh said “Yes! The best
big sister EVER!” We have no doubt
she is right.
Just before noon we had an appointment with Dr.
Cavanaugh. Sadbh was fantastic and allowed Dr. Cavanaugh to work his magic over
her. She did not budge once and responded to all his questions. It was very
impressive how mature she can be when necessary.
Sadbh and I had a fun afternoon and got to read a
bunch of her books. She is fascinated with all the new stories and asks so many
questions on each of the characters.
She even got to Skype with Nana and Granddad just as
they were getting ready to go to bed.
By the time Mommy arrived home Sadbh was starting to
get tired.
Once she had dinner we got trach care out of the way
and Sadbh watched some of her favorite cartoons until bedtime.
Bedtime was easy and after a bunch of hugs, kisses
and smiles Sadbh was off to sleep.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh
