Sadbh slept really well and woke up moments before
Kim’s shift ended. We had explained to Kim who Taco was last night so when
Sadbh started talking to her this morning she was aware of who Sadbh was
talking about.
Caity, Sadbh’s nursing supervisor came by this
morning to conduct her recertification and Sadbh was excited to see her. She
was having breakfast at the time and she showed Caity how well she set the
table.
Once the recertification was complete Sadbh and I
read for a while. I usually can get through five or six books without any
problems, after that it is so difficult to keep my eyes open. Thankfully Sadbh
is alert and gives me a prod if I drift off to sleep.
Sadbh got to look at videos and photos of her cousin
Fionn back in Cork. Fionn is currently being examined in hospital for dietary
issues and Sadbh was very concerned about her baby cousin. We are all keeping
our fingers, toes and eyes crossed in the hopes that he will be ok and will be
able to get home very soon.
After lunch uncle Neil stopped by so we headed off up
to Capitol Hill for a walk and to get a few more books. Sadbh was thrilled to
head out and I could hardly keep up with her as she took off up the street.
Half way there she decided that she had enough
walking and wanted to ride in the stroller the rest of the way.
As soon as we arrived at the bookshop she wanted to
get out of the stroller and got busy looking for books. She insisted on getting
three for herself and one for baby Taco.
Halfway home Sadbh fell asleep in the stroller while
wearing her trach cap. She slept for an hour and a half and woke up very
cranky.
We had an interview with another potential new nurse
this evening. We were trying to get dinner out of the way before she arrived
and unfortunately she arrived twenty minutes early. As soon as she realized
that we were having dinner she excused herself and headed back to her car to
allow us to finish dinner first. We felt bad but she was very understanding and
when she came back we had a really good meeting. It definitely helped to have
Sadbh fed so she was more manageable.
We managed trach care at bedtime and Sadbh was so
giddy. We had a lot of fun tickling her however when it came time to go to
sleep she was not ready. Her nap really backfired and she finally fell asleep
around quarter past ten.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh
