Fortunately the Tylenol worked to keep her temperature under control. Even though it was still higher than usual, it was closer to where it should be allowing her to fight whatever it is that’s bothering her.
Even though she had a lot of secretions, they were clear and not thick, so suctioning was easy and it also reduced the chance of plugging.
We believe she has a upper respiratory infection and it seems that she’s doing her best to fight it off.
She spent most of the day sleeping, and when she wasn’t sleeping, she had a very tired look on her face.
There were moments where she would get a burst of energy and would want to play with some of her toys, however it was usually short lived and eventually she would be ready for a nap.
Since she was coughing so hard, every time she had something to eat or drink, it came back up shortly afterwards.
I believe she went through more outfit changes today than Lady Gaga goes through in a year.
We decided to forego trach care today since she was so restless and figured it was safer to skip a day.
It was an exhausting day for everyone, but we are so lucky my father is here and he’s been an immense help.
Our night nurse Larissa is picking up an extra shift tonight, and since she’s so good with Sadbh, we are hopeful that she will be able to provide her with good care so she get’s a better nights rest.
Take care,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
