Sadbh slept like a log all night and
did not wake until 6:10. She had a quick feed and was back to sleep within ten
minutes.
An hour or so later, she woke up. She
was having difficulty breathing as her trach was very dry. Katie and Nini had to put saline drops
in her trach suction a number of times to clear out her airway.
This did the trick and Sadbh’s blood
oxygen level bounced back up and she was able to breath much easier.
Nadia was working today and after
breakfast Sadbh was able to go outside and play in the back garden.
She had a lot of fun playing with all
the flowers and some of her toys. It was great and after a few hours she was
tired enough for trach care.
Trach care went very well and Sadbh
slept for almost two hours.
After she woke up and had lunch, it
was time to head back outside and practice using her modified Passy Muir Valve.
Sadbh tolerated it for an hour and a half. She did great and made a lot of
sounds.
Afterwards, Sadbh had her first taste
of raspberries and loved every single one. She was a big mess by the time she
was done, but thankfully Nini and Nadia managed to keep her trach nice and
clean.
Nadia is constantly teaching Sadbh
baby signs, and today she thought her how to say her name. When it came time
for her to finish her shift, Sadbh was making the sign for Nadia and then
blowing her kisses. It was very impressive and I’m sure it made Nadia’s day.
She had a fun evening and got the
royal treatment when I got home. She was wheeled around with her dolls and
cuddly bear in her wagon, and she loved every minute of it.
When it came time for bed, she wanted
to put on her pajamas herself, but fearing that we would be at it all night we
had to trick her to get her dressed for bed.
Despite being exhausted tired, it
took a great deal of effort to get Sadbh off to sleep tonight.
We had her all bundled and connected
to all her equipment, and as Katie rocked her to sleep, she sat up, leaned
towards me and gave me a great big kiss good night. My heart melted and after
she kissed Katie, she grabbed her sleep sheep and closed her eyes.
She had a great day and the hope is
that she will have another great night.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
