Sadbh’s night started off great and she slept like a log for the first few hours.
Around 12:30, she started a coughing fit and ended up waking herself up. She joined us in bed, and for the rest of the night she had one coughing fit after another. At 3am she coughed so hard that she barfed all over our bed.
Throughout this ordeal, she required constant suctioning to keep her trach clear.
Thankfully her heart rate and temperature remained normal, and her secretions were normal, if not a lot more frequent than usual.
She was in a good mood throughout the day, and had lots of fun with Granddad and Nana.
She even got to spend a while out in the back garden to play in the sunshine.
Later in the day, her breathing became more labored and her coughing became more frequent. She seemed upset, however her heart rate, temperature and blood oxygen level all remained normal.
Her bedtime was a little later than usual, and she drifted off very quickly.
It does not seem that she is dealing with a cold or anything of that nature. We are wondering if she might have an allergy or be suffering from asthma.
I hope she has a much better night tonight, and that she will be back in action tomorrow.
