It turned out be a rough night for Sadbh, and the coughing fits came back strong. Her temperature and heart rate was normal, and thankfully she was not too distressed.
Both Katie and I were up most of the night continuously suctioning her trach.
When Sadbh finally woke up in the morning, she was full of beans and ready for breakfast and play.
I wish Katie and I felt the same way.
In the afternoon, after trach care Poppy came by to say good-bye before heading home to San Francisco. Sadbh was having so much fun playing with her balloons from yesterday’s party, but she got to get in a lot of snuggles with Poppy before he left.
The sun was slow to come out today, but when it did we all headed off to Green Lake for a nice long walk in the fresh air.
The place was packed with people, and Sadbh’s eyes were bulging out of her head with excitement.
She finally nodded off to sleep for the last 20 minutes of the walk and before we knew it, she was in a deep sleep.
Katie’s cousin Beth came by for dinner and got to spend a lot of time playing with Sadbh.
She even got to eat another birthday cup cake with icing as part of her dinner.
Sadbh’s coughing fits have returned tonight, and she seems to be having a very tough time getting comfortable. Within the first 30 minutes of her going to bed, we have had to suction her trach at least 20 times.
At one point, Katie took Sadbh’s binky out to give her a drink of water, and when she went to bring the sippy cup to Sadbh’s lips, Sadbh was sucking on another binky.
It’s going to be another long night, but I suppose it’s a lot easier compared to this day last year when Sadbh was on the nasal cannula and had to sleep on the Bilirubin bed.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
