Sadbh slept great last night and did not wake up until 4am. At first we did not realize that she was awake, until Katie noticed that she was standing in her crib right next to the bed.
Katie fed Sadbh, put her back to bed were she slept until 6. At that stage, she joined us in bed and slept until 7:30.
It was an early start to the day, and Sadbh was in a very happy mood. She could not wait to get downstairs to have her breakfast, and then it was playtime with everyone.
She was very tired when it came time for trach care, and after her bath, she slept soundly.
Today Nini got to hold Sadbh’s trach during trach care. Despite being so nervous, she did a fantastic job.
Sadbh slept right through trach care, and woke up immediately afterwards.
We had a few errands to take care of today, so we packed the car and headed off. Sadbh loves being in the car and watching what was going on outside.
Later on, we headed over to Fremont, and Sadbh got to check out the Troll under the Aurora Avenue bridge.
By now, Sadbh was starting to get sick of being in the car, so we cut our trip short and headed home.
Once we were home, Sadbh had dinner and lots of playtime with me.
We first tried out the standard Passy Muir Valve, unfortunately she did not tolerate it so we switched to the modified Passy Muir Valve. She immediately acted as if she couldn’t tolerate it, but soon realized that it was fine. Next thing we know, she started making some sounds. She was originally surprised by the sensation and sounds that were coming through her mouth, but she was excited by it and kept making them.
It was a special moment and also quite emotional for Katie and me.
The day flew by so fast, however Sadbh had a great time and got to practice standing by herself and making sounds with the PMV.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
