Sadbh’s update – April 14th, 2012

Sadbh had a great night sleep. She woke up a couple of times through the night, and insisted on a quick snack each time.
When she woke at 7, she was ready for breakfast and wanted the fun to start.

Sadbh was in for a big treat today as we had planned a birthday party celebration.
Katie’s aunt Cammy and cousin Beth stopped by early to help with the birthday cupcakes and getting everything set up.
Nini and my parents were also extremely helpful in organizing today’s party.

Unfortunately, Sadbh’s aunt Kristi was feeling sick, so she and her three kids could not make the trip from Portland.
A number of other friends, like Clodagh, Dylan, Sean, Aleta and Benny were also sick, so they too could not make it.  Hope everyone feels better soon.
Sadbh is so lucky to have such considerate friends. Clodagh even had her mum record her singing a birthday song for Sadbh. Adorable to say the least.

It was a mad scramble to get everything organized, and the hard work paid off.
Just before 3, Grace and her parents arrived and both Grace and Sadbh were excited to see each other.
Within no time, the back yard was full and Sadbh was in her element.
She wore a beautiful white dress with flowers within the lining, and she looked like a total princess.

When all the guests had arrived, it was time to break out the birthday cupcake with one single candle on it.
After Katie helped Sadbh blow out the candle, Sadbh played with the cake and within no time, she was covered in icing and carrot cake.
After her birthday song, Katie’s father gave a touching speech thanking everyone who has sacrificed so much to help Sadbh since she was born.

Sadbh had made a nice big mess eating her cupcake, so it was time for a costume change, and she looked even more adorable.
She is quite the socialite, and was happy flirting with all the boys while showing off her nice pink dress.

It was a fantastic day and Sadbh had so much fun. She was wiped out when it came time for bed, but as soon as Katie placed her in the cot, she got this blast of energy and was bouncing around like the Tasmanian devil.
The three of us got to snuggle for a while, and eventually Sadbh drifted off to sleep.
The perfect ending to a perfect day.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
