Sadbh’s update – April 8th, 2012

When we got to bed last night, we found Sadbh, tucked into the side of her crib, sleeping on her belly with her bum in the air.
She had a great night, and joined us in bed later in the morning.
She had a quick snack, and when she was done, she lay back across Katie’s stomach, and passed out.

I left the house early this morning to drop Chris to the airport for his journey back to Munich.  Sadbh was fast asleep and cuddling with Katie as I snuck out of the room.

It was an early start to the day and Sadbh was in for a treat when she arrived downstairs. All her stuffed bunnies had gathered for Easter and they were all waiting for Sadbh to come and play.

She had a fun morning and after a few hours of playing, it was time for a nap and trach care.
We were originally planning on changing out Sadbh’s trach tomorrow, but since she was in a nice deep sleep, we decided to take care of it today and get it out of the way. Katie removed the old trach, I inserted the new one, and Nini helped out suctioning.
Nini was very nervous, but she did a fantastic job.

As soon as we were done, Sadbh woke up and was ready for food and play.

Once Sadbh was fed, we loaded up the car and headed over to Sarah, Gerry and Dylan’s for Easter Lunch and the Easter egg hunt.

Sadbh was excited to see all her friends and as it was such a beautiful day, she got to spend most of the day outside in the sun.
It’s moments like this, when Sadbh get’s to play with all her friends, that we see some serious development improvements.
We believe that she learned a lot from watching and playing with her friends today.

The fun did not end there, Sadbh got to meet our friend Helen who’s over from England for a visit.
Helen has been very supportive over the last year, and she even put together a wonderful storybook for Sadbh that included loads of photos, so we were very excited to finally introduce Sadbh to Helen.

It was such a busy day, she even got to Skype with Granddad and Nana back in Cork.
In fact, everyone at the party got to chat with my parent, despite the fact that it was late in the evening, and they were both in bed.

She missed her afternoon nap, and was extremely cranky for the rest of the evening.

Just before bedtime, she started doing something new for us. When we asked, “How big is Sadbh?”, she shot her arms in the air showing us how big she was.

Bedtime could not come soon enough for poor Sadbh, and initially we thought that she would go down easily enough. This wasn’t the case, and Katie had to work very hard to get her to sleep.
Thankfully Larissa is working tonight, so Sadbh should hopefully get a good night sleep.

All the best,

Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
