Sadbh’s update – January 12th 2013

Sadbh had a good night sleep and even though Julie had to suction four times, she did not wake until after 6:30.

It was an early start to the day and Sadbh had a lot of fun.

It was a very cold day so we decided to stay indoors. This did not bother Sadbh as we each took turns having fun with her.

When it came time for trach care, Sadbh had fallen into a deep sleep allowing us to manage it without any problems. She slept on for an hour and a half and woke up in a great mood.

After her lunch she was playing in the nook when all of a sudden I heard her calling me by my name. I went in to find her lying on her belly pretending to be hurt. I picked her up and started to kiss her owwa and noticed her turn her head away as she was trying to hide her laughter. She did this a couple more times and she had both Katie and me cracking up with laughter.

Her friend Dylan was celebrating his second birthday today so we headed over to join in on the festivities. His party had a construction theme and Sadbh was delighted when she got her very own hard hat.

All her friends were there and they had so much fun. Sarah and Gerry did a fantastic job setting up the house with all sorts of construction work areas and toys and it was great to see all the kids getting along so well.

When the birthday cake came out and everyone started to sing “happy birthday” to Dylan, Sadbh seemed to think that we were singing to her. The expression on her face was priceless.

The energy in the house intensified after each of the kids got their share of cake and soon there were children running and racing everywhere. It was a fun evening and Sadbh really enjoyed herself.

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more exciting, Dylan’s pet cat came up to join in on the fun and Sadbh was surprised. She could not believe that she was so close to this ginger cat and she even got a chance to touch it.

When it came time to leave Sadbh was surrounded by Cormac and Dylan. She received big smooches from each of them and was excited with all the attention that she received. I prepared her for a serious talk on the journey home, however she was wiped out and was soon fast asleep.

We will have to have the chat tomorrow after she wakes up.

Thankfully she was in a good mood when we had to wake her up to change into her pajamas and to brush her teeth. As soon as she was all bundled up she was back to sleep and comfortable in her cot.

She had a wonderful day and will hopefully have a great night sleep.

Unfortunately, I shrunk Katie's favorite cashmere sweater today, however on the positive side, Sadbh got a brand new cashmere sweater today.
