Sadbh woke up at 6:15am just
after Julie finished her shift. She was ready to start her day and was
delighted when Katie popped into her room.
Last year Katie put together
a photo book documenting Sadbh’s first few months. One of the photos in the
book was of me stealing Sadbh’s binky. When she saw this photo this morning she
got very excited and wanted Katie to bring her upstairs to me. As soon as she
came into the bed she immediately wanted to give me her binky.
Trach care was earlier than
normal today, however she only slept for 20 minutes and had no desire to go
back to sleep.
Some of my good friends
would consider me as being eager, others would consider me as impatient. Sadbh
has obviously inherited this trait and today while waiting for Katie to get
ready she started calling to her “mommy, chop chop”.
As soon as we were ready we
headed down to the Seattle Center for a walk and Sadbh was fascinated with the
huge water fountain. Despite the cold there were a number of kids playing
chicken with the fountain and Sadbh loved watching.
She even got to watch people
ice-skating and she did not want to leave.
We had a guild meeting to
attend to tonight and Sadbh’s nurse Caity was scheduled to look after Sadbh
from 5 until 10.
We arrived home from our
trip to the Seattle Center around 4 and Katie’s friend Michelle stopped by.
Sadbh was delighted to see her and she could not stop running around the house.
It was very obvious that she
was well beyond tired and that she was running on fumes.
Caity arrived on schedule
and Sadbh knew immediately what was about to happen. She wasn’t happy that we
left but soon cheered up and started to have fun.
Sadbh was fast asleep by 7
and only needed to be suctioned a couple of times.
Julie took over from Caity
at 10 and when we arrived home she was still in a deep sleep.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
