Sadbh needed a few suctions
throughout the night but slept until 6 when Julie’s shift ended.
She was in a great mood and gave
Julie and I a big smile as soon as she sat up in her cot.
After unhooking her
equipment we both saw Julie to the door and Sadbh bid her farewell.
Her trach sounded very
clogged so I brought her back to her room and prepared to suction it clear. As
she popped her binky into her mouth, she noticed the color and said “purple, yea!”
She started coughing and
thankfully Katie came down to help.
Her trach was blocked
completely with thick mucus secretions and after five or more suctions she was
breathing easily again.
Michelle spent the night and
Sadbh was delighted to see her when she woke up.
It was a cold but dry
morning so Sadbh, Katie and Michelle went for a stroll through the
neighborhood, much to Sadbh’s delight.
Despite the cold they warmed
up quickly and Sadbh was thrilled with the number of dogs and cats that she
passed on her journey.
They arrived back just in
time for Sadbh’s nap and trach care. Sadbh gave Michelle a huge hug just before
she left and she was sad to see her go.
Trach care went well until
we were securing her trach ties when Sadbh woke up. She was uncomfortable and
very upset, however she was soon full of smiles when she realized what was
going on.
Our friend Neil was
returning from his trip to England to see his family so we loaded up the car
and headed to the airport to pick him up.
During the drive we were
hoping that Sadbh would doze off but she was too excited and kept talking about
Neil.
After picking Neil up we
dropped his bags off at his house and went to the Elliott Bay Brew Pub for
lunch. The Seahawks game was on and everything the crowd cheers, Sadbh would be
jumping up in her seat clapping along with them. It was hilarious how excited
she got.
She finally fell asleep on
the drive home so we stopped off at a shop to buy her a couple of small toys
for tomorrow’s hospital visit.
Sadbh loves hats and just as
we were cleaning up after dinner she had all three of us wearing hats. It’s
getting to the point that she has us all doing whatever she wants and it’s just
becoming normal. It’s all too funny.
Just before bedtime she had Katie
and I playing with some of the musical instruments that she got for Christmas.
She had a great time and was jumping around with excitement.
Sadbh has her appointment
for a bronchoscopy tomorrow morning and cannot have any solid food after 1:30am
or any clear fluids after 5:30am. Her appointment is much later than usual so
we are certain that she’s going to be very unhappy. That said, if she wakes
before that cut off time we will feed her so she is not as hungry in the
morning.
During our last visit Dr.
Inglis determined that she would no longer recommend Botox injections.
The objective for tomorrows
visit is to look at her vocal cords and to remove any granuloma that has grown
since the last bronchoscopy visit.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
