It was an early start for the Walsh grandparents, as
they had to be at the airport bright and early. Unfortunately it was too early
to wake Sadbh up so just as they were about to leave they popped into Sadbh
room to give her a kiss good bye.
As soon as they went into her room they found here
awake and holding onto Jirapa’s hand. They said a quick good bye in the hope
that she would go back to sleep and headed off, very heart broken.
After they left, Sadbh started to cry and wanted
Katie. Katie took over from Jirapa and once she was signed out Sadbh headed up
stairs with Katie and Cillian.
It was a sad farewell at the airport and once my
parents were through security I headed home. Sadbh was in a better mood when I
arrived and she was looking out the window as I approached the house. When she
realized that Nana and Granddad we not with me she got sad again. Apparently,
when she first got up, she went running downstairs saying “Grandad? Nana?”. Katie had to remind her that the were off
back to Ireland.
Katie and I gave Sadbh a bath just before lunch and
after that we managed trach care.
Sadbh and Cillian were very restless so we decided to
jump in the car and go for a spin. The two kids were fast asleep in no time and
they were both able to get a nice well-deserved nap.
Earlier in the day Sadbh decided that she wanted to
go to Café Presse for dinner since she had not been there in ages.
It was good idea since neither Katie nor I wanted to
cook tonight. It was definitely a lot more cramped with four of us along with
Sadbh’s two medical bags.
In the evening, Sadbh was suddenly very interested in
seeing what a stoma looks like and she really wanted to see hers. Katie pulled
up a few photos of some trach stoma sites and was very careful to only show her
healthy ones. She is really interested in getting rid of her trach as she wants
to go visit her grandparent back home in Ireland.
She even mentioned that Ali-Baba will drop her to the
airport as soon as her trach is out so she can get on a plane and head over to
see them, with us of course.
Bedtime tonight was a breeze as Sadbh was exhausted.
All
the best,
Wayne, Katie, Sadbh and Cillian.
