Sadbh slept well and joined us
in bed shortly after 4am. She fell back to sleep until 7ish, and then decided
that it would be more fun if everyone else was awake. She managed to wake me up
by kicking my back until I was awake, and in the meantime she kept doing the
baby sign for daddy while laughing her little head off.
After breakfast we headed out
for a walk and shortly afterwards Sadbh fell asleep. We did not want her to
sleep so soon since we still had to manage trach care.
We were headed for a park not
far from our house and as soon as we arrived we gently woke Sadbh up. She
seemed a little bit disorientated at first, but as soon as she realized where
she was she could not wait to get out of the stroller.
She had a blast and could not
keep off of the kids play area.
She walked most of the way home
and at one point she stopped and started making the sign for motorcycle. She
could see this bike through a fence that was parked at the back of the
building. It took both Katie and me a while to find it, and she could not stop
grinning from ear to ear.
Once we arrived home, it was
time for a light snack and then her bath.
She got very fussy once I took
her out of the bath and it took a while to get her calmed down enough to go to
sleep, but once she was asleep, trach care was very easy.
Sadbh did not sleep for long
and not long after waking up, Ali-Baba and Kirk stopped by. Sadbh was very
happy to see them both and immediately started to play with Ali-Baba.
Later in the evening Sadbh,
Katie and I headed out on the boat for a spin on the lake. She was very excited
but fell asleep shortly after we left the dock. We have a 2 person inflatable
dinghy as a lifeboat for Sadbh since she cannot go into the water. The dinghy
proved to be a great cot for her after we dropped anchor and she slept soundly
for a while.
She woke up with a big appetite
and a huge smile. As usual, Sadbh could not stop waving at everyone that she
could see and she received as many waves back as she gave out.
Things got a little stressful
on the way back to the dock as the engine started to cut out. Thankfully we
were able to make it back, but just about.
Sadbh had a great day and was
in the best mood all day.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
