Sadbh woke up moments after we
went to bed and ended up spending a few hours in bed with us. She went back into her cot around 1am and
woke again at 4:30. After a quick
snuggle with Katie, she slept on until 7:30 and it was off downstairs for
breakfast.
Nini left for a two-week
holiday and Sadbh’s nurse called in sick. Katie took care of the first few
hours by staying home with Sadbh.
I headed home from work at 9 to
take care of the rest of the day and I arrived to a very happy little girl. As
soon as I set foot in the door, she came running through the kitchen and
straight into my arms. She was so happy and affectionate it brought a tear to
my eye.
As soon as Katie was ready to
head off, Ali-Baba arrived to help with trach care. Sadbh had so much energy
and did not want to slow down. She moves so fast through the house now, I fear
that she’s going to wear a groove in the floor with all the running around.
Her trach care ritual went very
well and Sadbh really enjoyed her bath. Ali-Baba read her a couple of books and
once she was bundled up in her warm pajamas, she fell into a deep sleep very
quickly.
Trach care was very quick,
however Sadbh woke up with a huge smile as soon as we placed her in bed.
Katie’s stepmother arrived
today and Sadbh was very happy when she arrived. After lunch, Sadbh, Katie and Pat
headed off to the local farmers market and came home with beautiful flowers and
the makings for tonight’s dinner.
It was a beautiful evening so
we all headed over to Alki Beach in West Seattle and Sadbh could not slow down.
Despite not having slept for more than 40 minutes all day, she had a serious
amount of energy. There were moments where it looked like she was about to fly
around the place.
It was tough getting Sadbh to
sleep this evening and her mood was all over the place. One moment she was crying
and asking for Katie, the next she was kissing and hugging me, and all of a
sudden I became her punching bag. After an hour or so she finally fell into a
deep sleep. Hopefully she rests well tonight as we have a fun day planned for
tomorrow, after we are done with trach care of course.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
