Sadbh slept
really well last night and woke up at 5:15. She and Audrey played for awhile until Katie came down.
Destiny
started her shift at 6am and helped us take care of Sadbh while we packed up
her supplies and all our gear for our trip to Lake Chelan.
It was a
busy morning between meeting two different contractors and a potential new
nurse.
As soon as
the last appointment of the morning was about to start, Sadbh looked like she
was about to fall asleep, so Destiny brought her outside for a walk around the
street.
It paid off
and as soon as we were done with the second contractor, Sadbh was ready for
trach care.
She had a
nice relaxing bath and immediately afterwards she fell into a deep sleep.
Katie and
Destiny managed trach care and Sadbh slept on for a couple of hours afterwards.
The hope was
to hit the road by 1pm, however, it took us a lot longer than planned and we
ended up leaving the house at 3:30. We were so lucky to have Destiny there to help
us and Sadbh was delighted since she got to have so much fun.
The trip to
Lake Chelan is approximately three and a half hours, however, about fifty miles
outside of Seattle we hit the worst traffic ever. It took us almost two hours
to travel five miles and Sadbh was upset the entire time. I was trying to keep
her calm in the back of the car while Katie drove, but Sadbh kept making the
sign for mommy.
After an
hour or so we switched places only for Sadbh to make the sign for daddy once
Katie was sitting next to her.
Unfortunately
it took another hour for her to finally calm down and eventually she fell
asleep.
It was late
when we finally arrived at Lake Chelan and since we were the last ones to
arrive, our friends rallied and helped off load the car. It was empty within
five minutes despite taking a couple of hours to load up earlier in the day.
Sadbh woke
up and was able to enjoy a late dinner and got to hang out with Clodagh and
Luna briefly.
When it came
time for bed though, Sadbh was overly tired and very energetic. I have a
feeling that its going to be a rough night.
All the
best,
Wayne, Katie
and Sadbh.
