Sadbh joined us in bed sometime
after 4am and slept soundly for the rest of the night until 6:45.
She had a huge breakfast and
was ready to start off the day as soon as possible.
We did not have a nurse
scheduled to work so Nini was flying solo for most of the day.
The painters are still working
on the house and while Sadbh was out in the back garden, she heard the garage
door opening.
She immediately started to do
the baby sign for daddy, and even said “daddy” a few times. Having the Passy Muir Valve on really
helped her say it loudly.
Ali-Baba stopped by later in
the morning to help Nini with trach care and her timing was perfect. Sadbh was
just starting to get tired after a playful morning, so they poured her a bath
and started the proceedings.
Sadbh fell into a deep sleep in
no time and trach care was very straightforward. She slept for an hour and a
half and woke up in a great mood.
Lunch was served and Sadbh was
delighted. She had scrambled eggs and afterwards it was time for a dance party
with Nini.
It was another beautiful day so
Nini took Sadbh up to Plumb Tree Park.
Sadbh was flirting like crazy
with all the young guys that she passed along the way, and could not stop
waving at anyone who gave her attention.
Sadbh tried out her PMV a
couple of times today and did really well. She’s getting more and more
comfortable wearing it every day, and this is going to be a huge benefit when
we can finally remove the trach permanently. We did try to cap her trach yesterday
to see if she could tolerate it. We
could see that she was about to start having difficulty by how her chest and
lungs were retracting, so we quickly took it off so that she didn’t struggle.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
