After a fun packed evening with
Dylan, Sadbh slept like a log and did not wake until 7.
She joined us in bed and
immediately took over by trying to push us out of the bed.
Katie made banana pancakes for
Sadbh’s breakfast and after few mouth fulls, Sadbh gestured to Katie to bring
some to me. They were delicious
Sadbh had a very busy morning
and after playing with Katie and I she started to get tired. She had a lovely
bath and was fast asleep as soon as she was dried off and bundled into her
pajamas.
Part of today’s trach care
included a trach change so I sanitized her bedroom and got all the equipment
set up.
Thankfully Sadbh was in a very
deep sleep throughout the whole thing and briefly woke up when I inserted the
new trach into her airway.
We are so lucky that she is
such an easygoing child. I’ve heard the horror stories from our nurses on how
challenging it can be.
Sadbh slept for three and a
half hours and even managed to sleep through the loud sounds of the Blue Angels
flying overhead.
Needless to say she had a
ferocious appetite when she woke up and devoured everything that was placed in
front of her. Se ate numerous bowls of macaroni and cheese, tofu, spinach and
hand fulls of blue berries.
The Seattle Sounders played
L.A. Galaxy today and Sadbh got to attend. We had fantastic seating and Sadbh
was in her element. It was her first football match and she could not stop
waving at everyone. Just before the game started, Sadbh started pointing up
into the sky. Eventually Ali-Baba looked up to see what she was pointing at and
a couple of thousand feet up were four sky divers descending into the stadium.
In fact she spotted them prior to the announcer calling for everyone to look
up. It was amazing how she spotted them so far up there.
Despite the fact that Beckham
was playing for L.A., Seattle played a great game and every time they scored,
Sadbh would join in on the clapping. She loved it and could not get enough.
Even as we walked around the stadium, she would stop to clap every ten feet or
so.
Dylan and his parents joined us
for the match and he also had a great time.
Just as we were leaving, Sadbh
leaned over to give Dylan a hug and a kiss. He wasn’t so keen, but she did
manage to get a small kiss in on his cheek.
During Sadbh’s first few months
in Children’s Hospital, there was a daily challenge to see if we could find
Waldo, or Wally as he is known back home.
While we were on our way home
from the match tonight, we spotted Waldo in our neighborhood. At least I think
he was Waldo.
All the best,
Wayne, Katie and Sadbh.
